BBCode that points to the file-
oh i dont know about BBcodes - i upload them via the upload/place inline feature...
well so long as the hog isnt sick/starved - because they are nt meant to be out daytime unless they are in trouble.... but maybe i got an eccentric one!!  (actually the frogs think it is spring - they were making courting croaks yesterday...)

Wow, he looks great. I hope I look that good in thirty or forty years. Of course, he's handsomer now than I ever was.
Madeliaette wrote:oh i dont know about BBcodes - i upload them via the upload/place inline feature...
And that creates the code. When you click on the button to place the picture inline, you'll see something like this:

[attachment=0 ]pondhog.jpg[/attachment ]

I put extra spaces in there to disable it, but that's basically the code that tells ReNext what to display. If you quote your post with the hedgehog, you'll see it in there.

I hope he's just eccentric and not sick. If he's just hungry, then he'll be okay, since you're feeding him.

Well, at least they're having a good time.

Desert Rose Society Rose Show. Yes, the green ones are roses, or so I've been told, but I think I'm going to ask about that. :D

I googled it, and this makes sense to me:
Green roses have a very unusual anatomy in comparison to other roses, because green rose blooms are made up entirely of sepals. Sepals are the leaves that encircle blossoms on normal rose plants. Instead of producing normal petals, green rose bushes continously grow sepals until the overcrowded foliage resembles a flower.

Yes, that's very interesting. No blossoms, just sepals. It does seem to be petals with no blooming, but I guess maybe sepals are considered part of the flower. I wonder how it reproduces if it has no pistils and stamens.

I think the petals are there along with the pistels and stamens, but that the sepals are the part that proliferate instead of the petals.

That's so strange. I wonder what made it decide to do that. It must have some survival or reproductive value, yet most other flowers go the usual petal route.

Heh I would have gotten a cane that color even if it didn't have the features, but since it does, YAY! It has a whole different feel to it, more stability, and with the wider end, I'm hoping it works well on the beach. I'm heading to Bed Bath & Beyond with a 20% coupon, and if they really are in stock, will pick up a black one for beach, gravel and dirt. This could open a whole new range of walks for me.

^ That's the plan. I've had a lumbar pack ready to go for years, just needed to walk better and have a suitable cane.

Clouds and an enduring rose. The second picture I snapped fractions of a second before a raptor of some kind flew through. Gone before I could shoot again, since I was doing continuous shoot.

Here are some of the pictures I took yesterday. The weather was perfect for an abandoned airfield and dilapidated buildings.

Image
Part of the field with old housing facilities in the distance.

Image
Another part of the field. I have no idea what that globe on the tower is. Radar? Weather station? The fence was still up on this part of the base (you can see in the lower left that I was shooting through the chain link), so I couldn't get any closer.

Image
A crumbling building. I was going to try to get inside, but decided I didn't have time. I found a dead skunk next to the entryway. :(

Image
The widest part of the airfield. You probably can't see it, but the flight tower that I want to photograph is on the other side. But....

Image
Here is the same picture, cropped instead of resized (well, both, actually), so you can see the tower.

At least a live skunk didn't get you. :Ahhh: Sad, dilapidated buildings. One of the problems with turning military bases back to civilian control is all the weird chemicals and shell casings and stuff like that. :(

Two views from my new table at Harris Ranch brunches and another one of the fountain.

I guess we were lucky with Pease Air Base in Portsmouth. It's now the Pease International Tradeport. It gets lots of use and new businesses are moving in all the time.

^^ They had big plans for Southfield that would have been really nice, but then the economy crashed and everybody went bankrupt. Now they're all suing each other. :(

Yeah, they made a big deal about cleaning the place up, but who knows if they got everything.

Nice place. I like that fountain. Did you get to see any horses?

Here are some of the pictures I took this morning:

The first one is looking toward the old flight tower. In the second two you can see the streetlights on the new road that replaced the huge dilapidated building from my original expedition. I do like the sky in the second one.

I'm back! I turned onto my street midafternoon yesterday, and there were Jim and Leo. I rolled down my window and yelled hi, so I knew that by the time I parked and opened my door, they'd be there to meet me. :D I was exhausted, but found the strength to walk them to their door. :D

Good photos, RJ. I especially like the middle one with the cloud wedge. I didn't get to see any horses, RJ, but I did get to smell them. When they are clean and healthy, they smell wonderful.

Gotta go walk! Later! :hello:

Well, I wouldn't break in, but if it was unlocked or there was an easy opening....

Thanks. That one surprised me. Of course, when I was there I was both shivering and frustrated with my camera problems, so I wasn't really paying as much attention as I normally would.
