^^ Thank you. I knew you'd get it. :D

The funny thing is, yesterday my followers bounced up to 191-- today the count is 190. Somebody doesn't like either puns or nudity.

No, there was only a couple of people I was sure were that familiar with the Barsoom stories. Have you read them all?

Just the first one, and many, many years ago. I remember her name, didn't remember his until the movie. Actually, the fuss over the movie alerted me to the book I'd read when I was a kid.

It's good stuff, if you like old-school Pulp Sci Fi. The Science Fiction Book Club released a nice series of hardcovers a few years ago reprinting all the stories. I think I've read all but the last one at this point.

I need to get my stuff out of my head and down on paper. Some days it's a lot easier than others.

I've acquired some new followers, but I've also lost some-- I'm not sure if they dropped me or just deleted their blogs-- so I now stand at 192.

^^ Yeah, I notice a mysterious segment of people following and unfollowing me on Twitter and Tumblr. Who knows what's going on with that.

Ah, that might be why. I don't really follow anybody back. I have enough trouble keeping up.

I can't keep up with the spam. I have taken to approving some of the borderline comments, when there is a ring of sincerity and no attempt to sell anything. What is absolutely hilarious, though, are the occasional not quite grammatical comments mocking less grammatical ones. Nothing direct, just sly hints of superiority. I wonder if I've got some large following of ESL students. :D

Meanwhile, I haven't posted lately, and I need to get back to it.

When I wrote that comment on the 20th, I had 800+ comments and worked my way down to about 600. It's so wearying to keep up with it that I slacked off, and ended up with 1400+ this morning. It's down to 1300, but I think I will shut down comments until I get a handle on it. Oh yeah, and I will absolutely have to end the email notifications! They are easier to delete, but still it's like getting spammed twice. :wtf: So I'll be calling Bluehost for help. If there can possibly be an easier way to delete blocks of spam, I want to know! :conf:

I think I turned off the email notifications. :) If so, all it took was changing a setting. So I looked for another setting and have turned off comments for all articles posted more than 14 days ago. That should do it. I mean to post again by the end of the week, and hope to have purged the spam, or at least have purged most of it, by then. It's not as easy to purge as the email notifications though. That was simple clicking.

I decided that looking for legitimate comments among the spam would take weeks, so I was just doing a page select without scanning any of them and deleting them about 20 at a time. When I got down to the last 250, which is about when I thought the increase in traffic began, I was going to check for the good stuff. Fortunately I spotted some at 635 and stopped, and discovered that somewhere along the line, I alphabetized the list. Sigh. :as:

:Ahhh: The only comment of significance I accidentally trashed before I noticed I had alphabetized was from my sister Ann. Oh that would have gone over well. I restored it, permanently deleted 1576, still have 263 I had already marked as spam to check, then I will have the 100 or so comments I'm keeping, from you and my responses. I am keeping a cutoff for comments of 14 days, so no more spam, since they don't seem to find it that fast, or at least not so much that I can't handle it, I hope. I think I'm ready to give this another try.
