Hargil's Bar And Grill (Not a tax dodge or Mafia joint)

Even wilder and wackier than pre-crash Miscellaneous, the survivors talk about the weather, puppies, work, and coffee.

Quite. Nothing like some Old Time Rock And Roll, eh?

How can they be the wrong chairs??? I brought them from the old club. If you guys had seen fit to help an old broad, we might have gotten the correct ones.

I put them next to the new tables and the computer says "ERROR 40781: CHAIRS DO NOT MATCH TABLE."

Do NOT argue with the computer. :warn:

This is probably his most famous song at this point, because of this movie:

Back in my early 30's when we used to go to the club every week, that was our favorite song to dance to. If you didn't have a dance partner, you got out on the floor anyway. Good times....

I like it, too. It's sort of linked up in my mind with Billy Joel's "Still Rock'n'Roll To Me," even though they send kind of the opposite message. What the hell, I agree with them both. :veryhappy:

Here's some very old Seger:

And here's some wistful, bittersweet latter-day Seger, as he says good-bye to us. Thanks for the great show, Bob. Image

Next up we have Billy Joel, who will start off with one of my favorite songs (funny how that happens):

I think it was Billy Joel who did some song about fishermen that was really interesting- but I never learned the title.

Well I'm on the Downeaster "Alexa"
And I'm cruising through Block Island Sound
I have charted a course to the Vineyard
But tonight I am Nantucket bound

We took on diesel back in Montauk yesterday
And left this morning fromhe bell in Gardiner's Bay
Like all the locals here I've had to sell my home
Too proud to leave I worked my fingers to the bone

So I could own my Downeaster "Alexa"
And I go where the ocean is deep
There are giants out there in the canyons
And a good captain can't fall asleep

I've got bills to pay and children who need clothes
I know there's fish out there but where God only knows
They say these waters aren't what they used to be
But I've got people back on land who count on me

So if you see my Downeaster "Alexa"
And if you work with the rod and the reel
Tell my wife I am trolling Atlantis
And I still have my hands on the wheel

Now I drive my Downeaster "Alexa"
More and more miles from shore every year
Since they told me I can't sell no stripers
And there's no luck in swordfishing here

I was a bayman like my father was before
Can't make a living as a bayman anymore
There ain't much future for a man who works the sea
But there ain't no island left for islanders like me

True story, I actually got to meet Mr. Joel years ago, and he sang The Longest Time for us. Turns out he is a friend of a friend of my step-father through a business connection. He was in our house, played on our piano, drank our beer and then he was gone. My one big "rub" with celebrity as it were. :) Mom is a HUGE B-J fan, as am I.

In fact I require the following songs or otherwise he doesn't leave here alive: :loopy:

Downeaster Alexa
We Didn't Start The Fire
River Of Dreams
Goodnight Saigon
Allentown
My Life
Still Rock And Roll To Me
Only The Good Die Young
Piano Man

...and all the rest of his songs. I'll be over here preparing the scalding oil and sharpening the deskinning knives.
