Re: Check-In Thread #94: Nontotient Plutonium NBA
GM. my dad used to grow shallots and pickle those....he loved them and did it every year, though i dont like pickled veg much myself. potica is a sort of nutty cake roll i think? i seem to remember seeing it in a vegan version cookbook some time....but i may be wrong.
yesterday cheered me up - surprising what a couple of hours of A+ company can do to clear the mind of misery. been nbitterly cold out for the poast couple of days - but i am keeping cosy in multiple layers of clothing, candles warm the indoor air 1-2 degrees, and coffee and raw ginger warm my breath....but my darn nose still drips!

Good morning, everyone.
Man, it is chilly in here. The heat just can't keep up with the cold and wind. Luckily, it's all uphill here, temperature-wise, and it should be fairly comfortable by lunchtime.

Chocolate coffee sounds pretty good.emma glitch wrote: ↑Tue Jan 22, 2019 12:09 amAlso on sale at Whole Fppds was individual servings of Bulletproof cold brewed coffee. I like their lemon candy so I tried some. They had vanilla latte abd chocolate coffee, I'll try those sometime but tried their plain coffee and liked it.
I'm glad you had a cheerful day, but I hope it warms up for you.Madeliaette wrote: ↑Tue Jan 22, 2019 6:29 amyesterday cheered me up - surprising what a couple of hours of A+ company can do to clear the mind of misery. been nbitterly cold out for the poast couple of days - but i am keeping cosy in multiple layers of clothing, candles warm the indoor air 1-2 degrees, and coffee and raw ginger warm my breath....but my darn nose still drips!

Good morning!
Not much planned for the day, other than work.
I like pickles, and sauerkraut. I have a really good recipe for pickled green beans. I'm going to have to try Lily's dark chocolate. I wonder if Earth Fare sells it.

Happy Chewsday, everyone
Today is my heavy teaching day. I can't take a late-day nap because I was invited to give an IRB talk at 4pm. Drat

Adding bacon or chocolate to anything makes it better, for sure
That's good. The wife built a fire in the fireplace yesterday and that helped heat-up our TV room where we do most of our hanging out.RJDiogenes wrote: ↑Tue Jan 22, 2019 9:27 amMan, it is chilly in here. I do, too. When I was a kid, I hated those things. But now I love them. Go figure.

^I rather liked pickles when I was really little, but now I don't. But I've never liked sauerkraut even though everyone else in my family did.
Good morning, all.

Today was madness, but they actually gave me two extra helpers.

Re: Check-In Thread #94: Nontotient Plutonium NBA
^^ I could see that pun coming and still got hit with it
Just got back from giving my IRB talk. The guy who invited me gave me the wrong room number, so I showed up on the exact opposite side of campus. After finally figuring out which room I should be at, I zoomed in my car across campus and showed up at the correct room, only to discover there was no computer or projector for my powerpoint. So I just had to wing it.
I'm pretty good at winging but now I'm all wung out.

Happy Wednesday, everyone
Today I have a few meetings and a couple of errands to run. Not much else on tap.
Hope y'all have a great day

He's kind of an annoying guy to begin with. This incident didn't exactly improve my impression of himRJDiogenes wrote: ↑Wed Jan 23, 2019 9:30 amWatch out for that guy the next time he invites you to talk.

Good evening, everyone.
Tomorrow I must go in to HQ. At least it will be warmer.

Don't forget to bring your own AV equipment.
You must get the appropriate revenge on him. Invite him to speak and then give him the address of a Country-and-Western bar or something. He's kind of an annoying guy to begin with. This incident didn't exactly improve my impression of him
